The Problem

Welcome to my Americans Abroad Web Series website redesign project page! As a Web and Graphic Designer, I was thrilled to take on the challenge of revamping this website. The client wanted to better reflect its travel comedy focus. The existing UI was outdated, lacked humor, and had a dark style that didn't align with the web series' theme.

My design process for the Americans Abroad Web Series website redesign began with a clear understanding of the project objectives. My main goal was to create a visually appealing website that captured the essence of the series, while also making it engaging and entertaining for users. To achieve this, I followed a well-defined design process that included five key stages: define, research, analyze, design, and test.

During this Define stage, I identified the key challenges and opportunities associated with the project. I defined a list of project objectives that included eye-catching interactions, new colors, engaging elements, and new hero images. I also analyzed the existing website to identify its strengths and weaknesses.

The Process

Next, I conducted thorough research on other comedy and travel-based websites to gain inspiration and identify trends in web design. However, I found limited examples of comedy travel websites during my research. As a result, I needed to combine the two different styles to create a new design. During the Research stage, I stumbled upon polaroid photos and decided to incorporate this element into the design.

In the Analyze stage, I evaluated the research findings and identified the key design elements that I wanted to incorporate into the website. I sketched out the basic shapes of the pages and made several changes, including replacing the existing images in the gallery with polaroidsto bring in the travel element. To further enhance the comedy element I added quotes on the bottoms of the polaroids, thus bringing the two worlds together.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was designing the team page. I wanted to inject color and life into it while still maintaining the travel comedy theme. I transformed each employee headshot into a "travel photo" by drawing a background or adding clothing. This not only made the page visually appealing but also added a fun and personalized touch to the website.

The Results

I reviewed and evaluated the website's design and functionality to ensure that it met the project objectives. The new design was visually appealing, engaging, and entertaining, perfectly aligning with the travel comedy theme of the series. The redesign not only achieved its project goals such as increasing user engagement and views, but also captured the essence of the series.

I'm proud to have been a part of this project and am excited to continue creating visually stunning and impactful designs for future clients. Thank you for visiting my project page, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss your own website redesign project.
